Heian Toukaen Co., Ltd.

Kouchi is a type of pottery that was born in southern China, it incorporates a ceramic decoration technique called "ICCHIN" - pronounced "itch-in". Soft clay is put in a bag and squeezed through a nozzle to produce designs with thin raised lines. Also known in English as tubelining or slip trailing. Using the Kouchi technique we produce items such as tea utensils and tableware with both vivid and pastel colors. We have developed our own techniques In order to create subtle color shades by adjusting the firing temperature and materials used to mix the colors.
